Mike, did you know that today is also the feast of St. Sharbel Makhlouf (+1898) of Lebanon, a Maronite hermit priest? I just wrote a long post on my own blog about him and the Lebanese Christians. His is a fascinating story, reminiscent of the desert fathers but very nearly contemporary. And the Lebanese Christians in their tenacity of faith are worthy of emulation by Christians everywhere.

I also just quoted from your post on my blog, as it adds to the picture of Lebanon, so thanks for this!
