I never, er, read the book, but I did read a couple of articles by him that really helped blast open the assumptions of modern interpreters of the gnostic writings. Not that I needed convincing, but his questions about &quot;Well, who &lt;i&gt;is&lt;/i&gt; the &quot;Mary&quot; in gnostic writings? Why assume it&#039;s Mary Magdalene?&quot; were &lt;i&gt;very&lt;/i&gt; eye-opening.</description>
