It goes a long way in helping us understand why Pope Benedict XVI spent not one, but two audience talks praising the work of Origen (here and here).

Thanks, Mike, for posting the link. It really is an impressive work of scholarship, and goes a long ways to clearing up misconceptions about Origen.

The Pope also quotes a lot of Origen in _Jesus of Nazareth_, and describes him as simply “a Father of the Church”.
