Interesting news! As a Protestant, I’m a bit confused on what standards are used to determine “beatification.” Isn’t there some requirement regarding miracles?
I ask this out of ignorance, not as a trick question :-)
The 1983 Code requires one proven miracle attributed to the intercession of the candidate (this requirement is waived in the case of a martyr). In addition, the candidate’s life and writings are thoroughly scrutinized, testimonies collected, etc. There’s a good article here:
