Father Joe gave the homily at our nuptial Mass in 1995, a mass concelebrated by four priests (my wife is Byzantine Catholic). People to this day remind me of this one occasion. But Joe was also my spiritual mentor during my conversion to Catholicism at Pitt, while he was discerning his vocation to the priesthood. We will all miss him greatly. As he often signed his letters to me, "In Christ, Joe."

Fr. Joe was my one of my closest friends and long-time spiritual director. We met just months after his ordination when I was a student at Pitt. He was delegated authority by the Bishop to grant me the Sacrament of Confirmation in 1995 and preached the homily for my nuptial Mass in 2003. He was a sterling man and gifted priest with a towering intellect. The Church Militant has lost a great warrior and I a great friend. RIP.

We miss Father Joe already too up here in the Diocese of Bridgeport. What a phenomenal priest. Everyone that met him, loved him. He truly was another Christ walking on earth. At least we were blessed with the opportunity to know him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his parents.
