Excellent link, Mike! I especially liked the first sentence of the concluding paragrpah: “In treating this question one has to deal with the problem that personal bias shapes the way in which history is perceived.”

I think he’s hit on a tragedy in some modern views of early Christian history – that syncretism, though methodologically unsound, is still rampant. Heck, even when there’s nothing with which to be syncretic, people still find these supposed links!
