This was such a great article but I really liked this: "Fasting helps us to be detached from the things of this world. We fast, not because earthly things are evil, but precisely because they’re good. They’re God’s gifts to us. But they’re so good that we sometimes prefer the gifts to the Giver. We practice self-indulgence rather than self-denial. (There you have it! Simple as 1,2,3!)

Thanks Mike. This is great! "to attend to selfishness and lack of self control. Amen to that.

Pittsburgh businessman really spoke to me, too. I truly need to attend to "selfishness and lack of self-control." Thanks for the inspiration!

Very well said, Mike. I have dealt with the same thing your businessman friend has, and pretty much arrived at the same solution.

A blessed Lent to you!
